# US Visa Appointment Wait Times in the UAE: The Dated Table, by Post (July 2026)
Routine US visa services in the UAE are suspended. The US Mission said so in its own notice, "Important Notice: Suspension of Routine Visa Services", dated 1 March 2026. Search *us visa appointment uae* and Google's AI Overview still prints day-counts: 12.5 months for Dubai, about 6 months for Abu Dhabi. Both claims are below. Each one carries its date.
## The appointment wait time by post: a dated table for Abu Dhabi and Dubai
No published US visa wait for the UAE is a bookable date. Routine visa services at the Abu Dhabi embassy and the Dubai consulate are suspended. That is the US Mission notice of 1 March 2026. The day-counts still circulating are pre-pause estimates: up to 12.5 months for Dubai, about 6 months for Abu Dhabi (AI Overview, 20 July 2026).

The *us visa appointment uae* search page carries both stories at once. The AI Overview gives a wait in months. The official notice beside it says the counter is closed. We do not average the two. travel.state.gov publishes an estimated wait in calendar days per post. That model assumes a post that is issuing. A queue estimate for a closed counter is an old number wearing a new date.
## Why the wait is what it is: suspended routine services, no resumption date
1 March 2026 is the governing date. The notice says visa services in the UAE are currently suspended. It also says cancelled applicants will be contacted when routine services resume. No resumption date is named. Everything below follows from that.
The pause has been re-dated since. Wego reported on 26 June 2026 that both posts stay open on ordered-departure status, with routine consular services curtailed. Arabian Business reported on 14 July 2026 that all consular appointments were cancelled until 15 July. Dubai OFW carried the same status on 14 July 2026: suspension until further notice.
Residents describe it from inside the queue. A J1 applicant in Abu Dhabi wrote on 11 July 2026: "since the embassy is closed, I am getting interview dates for next year". Another asked on 30 June 2026 whether either post was processing J1 at all. His words: "the website says they aren't processing them".
The planning rule is blunt. Book a date a year out and hold it. Non-refundable travel inside six months will not be met by this queue.
## When slots actually release — the Friday morning slot release
Friday morning, from 7:30. Both UAE posts release appointments for nonimmigrant visa interviews every Friday morning from 7:30. That is the embassy's own wording. The page carrying it ranked first in our 20 July 2026 snapshot. Emirates E-Portal puts the window at 7:30 AM to 11:30 AM, public holidays excluded (8 September 2025).
The calendar also refills from the far end. A contractor system has run the scheduling since 30 May 2025. Under it, a UAE applicant reports the calendar "opens 50% slots 90 days ahead of time and it goes up to 80%". That is r/dubai, in our 20 July 2026 snapshot. It describes the 90-day slot release window. Two mechanics, one tactic:
- The first nonimmigrant visa interview slot you see today is not the one you will see in 90 days. An empty three-month calendar is normal, not final.
- Be logged in before 7:30 on Friday, not at 8:00. Skip the Friday that lands on a public holiday.
- You cannot hold a slot you have not paid for. DS-160 first, then the MRV fee.

## Booking earlier: the free emergency request, and the 124 days it moved
The emergency expedited appointment request is free. It moved one Dubai date 124 days earlier. It creates no appointment of its own. It asks the post to reschedule to an earlier date the slot you already hold. The reason has to be one you can evidence. One documented run from the Dubai consulate, posted 6 May 2026:

31 August to 29 April is 124 calendar days earlier. Two preconditions did the work. The applicant already held a paid MRV fee and a booked slot, so something existed to move. And the reason was fixed-date and documented, not "I would like to travel sooner".
The AI Overview for *us visa appointment uae* says expedited requests are typically granted within 1 to 7 days (20 July 2026). Check what it cites for that figure. The sources are the US embassies in the Dominican Republic and the United Kingdom. Neither is a UAE post. Our one dated UAE case cleared in four days.
Dubai agencies sell the same lever as a product. Regal Tours quotes AED 3,500 for an urgent appointment within 15 days, and AED 3,000 within 30 (regaltoursuae, 20 July 2026). The request itself is free, and you file it yourself. We sell nothing here. We cannot book or move a slot.
## The third-country trap: Oman, your home country, and "profile matches in database"
One active appointment blocks a second. Applicants chase a third-country appointment to escape the UAE backlog. What they hit is a scheduling error, not a policy door. "I am getting an error that profile matches in database," wrote the J1 applicant who tried his home country (11 July 2026). An H1B holder asked the same about Oman (5 June 2026).
Two published statements sit either side, and both hold. Khaleej Times reported on 23 November 2023 that appointments can be obtained in any country. The US Mission in India states that applicants should schedule in their country of residence or nationality (20 July 2026 snapshot). Cancel before you rebook. Expect to be asked why you are applying away from home.
