UK Visit Visa Fees from the UAE 2026: the Home Office Bill vs the VFS Bill (Dated)

Three UK visit visa fees rank on the same search in the UAE: £115, £127 and £135. Only one is current. The rest are old rates that never got taken down. On top of whichever fee is right, VFS charges a separate bill in dirhams in Dubai. Almost every page ranking for uk visit visa fees uae blends the two. This one splits them and dates every line.

The total from the UAE, itemised — and the fee ladder the search results missed

A Standard Visitor visa for up to 6 months is listed at £135 on gov.uk, read on 20 July 2026. That is one bill, paid online before you reach a centre. VFS Global charges a second bill in dirhams in Dubai or Abu Dhabi. A standard biometric enrolment slot is free.

The fee moved twice and the search results never caught up. Gulf News reported on 24 March 2025 that the six-month fee would rise from £115 to £127 on 9 April 2025, a £12 increase. gov.uk’s own listing showed £135 on 20 July 2026. Yet edarabia still prints the Standard Visitor visa £115 rate on that same search, undated. Treat £135 as current, and confirm it on gov.uk before you pay.

Two costs sit off this table. The ETA fee for UAE nationals has its own page. Inbound UAE visit-visa costs live at fees. What a UAE resident pays for a UK visit is the outbound bill only.

Diagram of the two separate bills for a UK visit visa from the UAE: the Home Office Standard Visitor fee of GBP 135 paid online on gov.uk, and VFS Global optional services paid in dirhams, with a free standard biometric slot.

Two separate bills: the Home Office and VFS

Two separate bills: the Home Office on gov.uk, VFS in Dubai

£135 goes to the Home Office as an application fee paid on gov.uk, before you ever reach a centre. Everything you hand over in Dubai goes to VFS Global. Two payees, two receipts. Every blended dirham “UK visa cost” on this search has folded them together, usually with a margin you cannot see.

Read the spread from one day. On 20 July 2026, akiratourism listed the six-month visa at “approx. AED 500–600”. On the same search, regaltoursuae listed AED 1,700. Same government product, a 3.4-fold gap. The Home Office £135 works out near AED 643 to 651. So one page sits under the government fee and the other charges more than double it.

The conversion is the figure incumbents print as static. The dirham is pegged to the dollar at 3.6725, but sterling floats against both. Three dated sources bracket it. Khaleej Times put £115 at Dh554 on 23 August 2024. Gulf News put £115 at Dh547.7 and £127 at Dh604.9 on 24 March 2025. Oravisa put £135 at about AED 640 on 21 February 2026. That is £1 = AED 4.74 to 4.82 across two years. You pay GBP to AED at the card rate your bank applies on the day, plus any foreign-currency charge it adds.

One VFS question recurs enough that a Facebook group post answering it ranks in the top 10 here: “Standard appointment is free. Payments on top of the visa fee will be the optional extra and/or premium services.” Read that as a community claim, not an official line. VFS optional service charges differ by centre. Dubai and Abu Dhabi publish their own lines — keep-my-passport service, courier and SMS add-ons, prime-time slots — on the VFS UAE page. Confirm the figure there before you pay.

Longer than six months, or paying for speed

A long-term visit visa buys 2, 5 or 10 years of entries at several times the £135. gov.uk’s listing showed a £903 long-term Standard Visitor line on 20 July 2026. Priority service targets 5 working days. Super-priority targets the next working day. Both cost extra, on top of the application fee.

The long-term 2-year 5-year 10-year visit visa prices on this search are stale. Edarabia, ranking on 20 July 2026, still printed 2 years £400, 5 years £771 and 10 years £963, next to a £115 six-month fee. That is the pre-April-2025 set. Beyond the £903 line we read, we print no long-term figure we could not re-check. Open the live gov.uk table.

Priority prices are missing here for the same reason. gov.uk sells both speed tiers on the same application, but we sourced no current price, so we quote none. Agency pages quote them blended: afcholidays listed a 10-year priority at AED 9,300 and super-priority at AED 11,900 on 20 July 2026. Those hold a margin, not only the fee.

Realistic processing from Dubai and Abu Dhabi

gov.uk targets 15 working days for the standard service turnaround. Real UAE filings in 2026 came back much faster. One applicant gave biometrics on Thursday 2 July and was approved on Wednesday 8 July — 4 working days, VFS Abu Dhabi, standard service, eVisa. Plan for 15. Expect fewer.

  • VFS Abu Dhabi, standard service, eVisa. Biometrics Thursday 2 July 2026, approved Wednesday 8 July 2026. 4 working days (r/ukvisa, 10 July 2026).
  • Dubai, flight already booked. Biometrics 9 June 2026, flight booked for Monday 29 June, with the 15th working day falling on the Tuesday (r/UAE, 24 June 2026).
  • A comparison, not a UAE case. Submitted 30 June, biometrics 2 July, approved 7 July 2026 — filed from a Schengen country, not the UAE (r/ukvisa, 7 July 2026). Same shape, different place. Read it as a pattern.

The count is cleaner than it looks. Since 1 January 2022 the UAE has run a Monday-to-Friday working week, so your week and the UK’s line up. Fifteen working days is close to three calendar weeks, minus UK bank holidays. The clock starts at your biometric enrolment slot, not on the day you paid.

So price speed against your flight date. Standard came back in 4 working days in the one dated UAE case above, and 3 working days in the non-UAE comparison. Priority service 5 working days is the target it competes with — no faster than what standard actually delivered in either. Priority buys a commitment, not time. Super-priority next working day is the only tier that truly compresses the wait, and it earns its price only when departure is inside two weeks.

The June case shows the squeeze. That applicant gave biometrics on 9 June with a flight on Monday 29 June, and worked out the 15th working day fell on the Tuesday — a day after departure. He had nothing spare if the decision ran late. Set your apply-by date before your flight from the target, not from the fast cases: biometrics at least 15 working days out.

Non-refundable if refused, and the fork that changes what you pay

The £135 is gone whether you are approved or refused. The fee is non-refundable on refusal because it pays for the decision, not for the visa. Reapplying costs the full amount again. There is no Immigration Health Surcharge for visitors, so a refusal costs the application fee and the centre charges, nothing beyond.

Which fee applies depends on your passport, not your Emirates ID. UAE nationals apply for an ETA at a much smaller fee; expat residents pay the Standard Visitor fee above. The two routes sit side by side, with their own dated prices, on the ETA and Standard Visitor comparison.

Refusal risk is what makes this fee planning rather than shopping. An incomplete file costs £135 to be told so. The pack that prevents it is on the UK documents page. Write the cover letter yourself. A chatbot’s default voice reads as a template, and consulates have refused applicants over exactly that — one Schengen case turned on an itinerary that “looked template like” (Reddit, Sweden visa case, 2026). The UK is lower-risk. It is not the place to test that.

How these figures were sourced. Checked 21 July 2026. We did not re-fetch gov.uk or VFS live for this draft, and we do not claim to have. Every fee above is read from our 20 July 2026 Google AE search capture for uk visit visa fees uae (93 organic results), taking each figure from that source's own listing: the £135 six-month fee and the £903 long-term line from gov.uk; the 9 April 2025 rise from £115 to £127 from the Gulf News report dated 24 March 2025; the £115 to Dh554 conversion from Khaleej Times, 23 August 2024; the £135 to AED 640 conversion from Oravisa, 21 February 2026. VFS service lines were not re-checked and are marked verify-at-source at visa.vfsglobal.com. The free-appointment line is a community claim from a Facebook group post in that same top 10, not an official statement. Timelines are dated, first-hand applicant reports, each quoted with its date. This page carries a quarterly refresh. The editorial desk maintains it; our sourcing rules and correction log sit at editorial policy.

Verify any figure in two steps: open the gov.uk fee page, then your centre’s VFS UAE page, and check the date on both. Found a receipt, a payment page or a timeline that contradicts us? Write to us at contact. We will re-check the source and publish a dated correction. Definitions of Standard Visitor visa, biometric enrolment, eVisa and priority service sit in the glossary. The whole route, from the passport fork to the decision email, is set out on the UK visit visa page.

Questions people ask about uk visit visa fees uae

FAQ

How much is a UK visit visa from the UAE in AED?
The Home Office listed the six-month Standard Visitor visa at £135 on 20 July 2026. At the £1 = AED 4.74 to 4.82 band that published UAE conversions imply, that is roughly AED 640 to 650. Your bank converts at its own card rate on the day.
Is the UK visa fee refundable if I am refused?
No. The fee pays for the decision, not for the visa. A refusal costs you the full application fee and any VFS charges with it. Reapplying means paying both again. Budget for that before you file, not after.
Is the UK visa free to the UAE?
No. Every UK visit permission costs something. Expat residents pay the Standard Visitor application fee to the Home Office. UAE nationals pay a smaller ETA fee instead. Nobody travelling from the UAE reaches the UK on a free permission.
What does VFS charge on top of the UK visa fee in Dubai?
A standard biometric enrolment slot is reported as free. VFS charges for optional services only — keep-my-passport, courier return, SMS updates and prime-time appointments — in dirhams at the centre. Read the current line on the VFS UAE page before you pay; we do not restate a figure we cannot re-check.
How early should I apply for a UK visa before my flight?
Give biometrics at least 15 working days before departure, near three calendar weeks. Standard service came back in 4 working days in the dated 2026 UAE case we cite, but the 15-working-day target is your worst case. Do not buy a non-refundable ticket before the decision lands.
