The IRCC Portal From the UAE: Which of the Five Sign-In Pages Is the Real One

Search for an IRCC portal application from the UAE and Google returns five government addresses. We counted them in the live result set on 20 July 2026: canada.ca, ircc-services.canada.ca, ircc.canada.ca, portal-portail.apps.cic.gc.ca and secure.cic.gc.ca. Nine of the top ten results are government pages. None says which address takes your application.

Which of the five IRCC sites you actually use — the map before the maze

Five official addresses, one submission surface. You submit from an IRCC Portal account, reached from the canada.ca instruction page dated 9 June 2026. The other four are instructions, an older portal address, an application package to read, and a legacy status and appointments form.

People search for the new IRCC portal (portal-portail.apps.cic.gc.ca) and land on an address IRCC titles “TR Visa Portal”. A second address, ircc-services.canada.ca, is titled “IRCC Portal — New version”. Both were indexed and live on 20 July 2026, so we will not pick a winner by guesswork. Open the canada.ca instruction page and click through from there. It is the entry point IRCC maintains, so it points at the current door. Further down the same result set sits a sixth page, the Permanent Residence Portal on canada.ca, dated 4 February 2026. It is a different programme, not a visitor-visa door.

GCKey or an IRCC secure account? The sign-in fork that stops people at step one

Two credentials, not one login. The IRCC Portal sign-in page asked for an email address and a password when we captured it on 20 July 2026. A GCKey sign-in belongs to the older IRCC secure account (secure.cic.gc.ca). We take that pairing from IRCC’s published account pages, not from our own snapshot — our capture carries no GCKey screen. Creating one credential does not create the other. Most first-timers stall here.

The register vs sign-in fork is the second stall. A first-timer has no account, so “Sign in” fails until you click “Sign up”. To create an account from the UAE, use an email address you will still control in a year. Every portal message lands there. The sign-up form opens on a warning worth repeating: write your surname exactly as it appears on your passport.

Here the sources disagree, and the disagreement is the finding. The canada.ca page “Sign in to your IRCC account”, dated 3 March 2026, presents one account estate covering immigration, citizenship and refugee applications. The live pages showed three doors on 20 July 2026. Email and password on the new-version sign-in. An Interac partner sign-in on a second new-version page. The legacy secure.cic.gc.ca form. None names the door a UAE applicant uses. Keep one account per adult applicant, and never give the password to an agent.

The form and the upload slots: one file per box, and the letter-of-explanation field

Your slot list is generated, not fixed. IRCC’s page dated 9 June 2026 says it plainly: “Complete the online form and upload your documents. After you answer all the questions, you’ll get a list of documents you need to upload.” Your answers build your list. A friend’s screenshot is not your list.

Then the upload screen, one file per box. A document of several pages goes in as a single PDF, in reading order. An approved UAE applicant described the tactic for another country in July 2026: he “combined everything into one PDF with an index page so that it’s easier for the person looking at the application” (r/ukvisa, 10 July 2026). Read the file size and format limit per slot on the box itself. We print no number, because our sources carry none.

A letter of explanation goes in the optional documents / letter of explanation field. Use it for what a form cannot hold — a gap in employment, or a name that differs across your documents. Write it yourself. As of 10 May 2026 a document that reads as machine-written is a live refusal vector. One applicant’s itinerary was called “template like” and read as visa shopping — in his words, “yes I did use chat GPT to format it” (r/SchengenVisa, 10 May 2026). That case is Schengen and we mark it as borrowed, but a Canadian officer reads for the same tell. What to attach sits on the Canada document list.

After you submit: the biometrics instruction letter, then biometrics at VFS Dubai

Same day, in the fastest real case we hold. One UAE resident submitted on 21 May 2026 and had his biometrics instruction letter (BIL) issued that same day. He gave biometrics in Dubai on 2 June 2026, and the portal linked them to his file the same day. The BIL is a portal message and a letter you carry to VFS.

Read the deadline printed on your own letter, not a date from a forum. Linking is not approval — the second applicant above was refused six days after biometrics. The decision-time band sits on what a UAE resident is actually applying for.

Applying as a family: separate applications, linked — and why decisions still split

Separate applications, one session. A Dubai applicant filed for his parents on 24 June 2026. He filed for his wife and three children on 27 June, on the same bank statement. The parents were approved on 4 July 2026. The wife and children were refused on 18 July 2026 (r/CanadaVisitorVisa, 19 July 2026). Same file, split result.

What the portal builds is linked family group applications. It groups them and it does not merge the assessments. Each person gets an application of their own, and an officer tests each one alone.

Who holds the account matters too. The new-version portal page lists conditions for a visitor visa. Two are legible in our snapshot: “you’re 18 years of age or older” and “you’re living outside of Canada”. The third is cut off. Read plainly, the account holder is an adult, so a child’s file is lodged from an adult’s account. Confirm the full list before you plan a family filing. Why one applicant reads as a return and another does not is the refusal mechanism. It has its own page: Canada visa refused under 179(b).

Status tracking, the passport request, and what we cannot do for you

Approval arrives as a request for your passport. Nothing in the portal says “approved” first. You upload no passport at submission. The passport request after approval is a separate portal state. It tells you to send the document to VFS Dubai for the sticker.

Your account is the application status tracker. The line UAE applicants quote back at each other is the one that says nothing: “We are processing your application. We will send you a message when there is an update or if we need more information” (r/CanadaVisitorVisa, 10 June 2026). The legacy secure.cic.gc.ca form handles what the account cannot: “ask about or update your application”, plus appointment changes. Captured 20 July 2026. Keep your application number and UCI where you can find them.

Now the limit on us, stated here rather than buried in our terms. Paid immigration representation for Canada is restricted by law to lawyers and CICC-licensed consultants, the RCICs. Our desk is neither. We do not sign in to your account, fill your form, or speak for anyone before IRCC. Anyone you pay to represent you must be authorised and named on the authorized representative form (IMM 5476). An adviser who will not give you a licence number is a risk you carry alone.

So the only thing we ask is a question. Did the portal show you a different door, or a limit we have not printed? Write to our desk with the date and the screen, and we will re-check and publish a correction.

How this walkthrough was verified. Checked 20–21 July 2026, in three tiers. Read from our own live search snapshot, captured 20 July 2026: the five hostnames, the page titles, the published dates (9 June, 4 May, 3 March and 4 February 2026), the email-and-password sign-in text, the Interac mention, the surname instruction, the new-version eligibility conditions and the upload sequence quoted above. Each is linked. Read from applicants' own dated posts: the two filing timelines, the family split and the processing message, from public Reddit threads carrying their dates. Cited from IRCC published pages for you to confirm, not opened live: the GCKey-to-secure-account pairing, the application number and UCI, the optional-documents field, per-slot upload limits and form IMM 5476. Portal addresses move — read every URL against the date beside it. Our sourcing rules sit at editorial policy.

Definitions of TRV, UCI, biometrics instruction letter and RCIC sit in the glossary. Read any IRCC portal application from the UAE guide against the date it was last checked. Addresses and forms move.

Questions people ask about an IRCC portal application from the UAE

FAQ

Which IRCC website do I use to apply for a Canada visitor visa from the UAE?
Start at the canada.ca page called Apply online to visit Canada: IRCC Portal, dated 9 June 2026, and follow its own link into the portal. That protects you from the other four addresses in the search results: the instructions themselves, an older portal address, an application package you only read, and a legacy client-contact form.
How do I upload documents on the IRCC portal?
One file per box. IRCC states that after you answer the form questions you get a list of documents to upload, so your slot list is generated by your own answers. Merge a multi-page document into a single PDF in reading order. Read the size and format limit printed on each slot rather than trusting a figure from a forum.
What is the biometrics instruction letter for Canada?
The BIL is the letter the portal issues after you submit and pay, telling you to give biometrics. One UAE resident had it issued the same day he submitted, on 21 May 2026, gave biometrics in Dubai on 2 June and saw them linked to his file the same day. Carry the letter to VFS and read the deadline printed on it.
Can I apply for my whole family together on the IRCC portal?
You can file them in one session, but each person is a separate application and each decision is separate. A Dubai applicant filed for his parents on 24 June 2026 and his wife and three children on 27 June, on the same bank statement. The parents were approved on 4 July and the wife and children refused on 18 July.
