Dubai Visa for an Egyptian Passport: Three Routes, Sorted by Where You Live
An Egyptian passport gets no Dubai visa on arrival. You file the visa before you fly. Which of three routes is yours depends on where you live — in Egypt, in a GCC country, or with a UAE-resident sponsor. An Egyptian passport is not on the manual-clearance list that blocks some online forms. We checked every fact here on 20 July 2026.
Answer first: no visa on arrival — an Egyptian passport files before it flies, on one of three routes
No visa on arrival, three routes to file, checked 20 July 2026. Every visa mill on this search sells one generic “Dubai visa for Egyptians”. None of them asks the question that actually decides your file: where do you live now? An Egyptian in Cairo, an Egyptian in Riyadh, and an Egyptian whose sister already lives in Dubai file three different products.

Here is the fork, with each route’s channel and its dated conditions.
Where you live | The route | Where you file | The dated conditions |
|---|---|---|---|
In Egypt | Pre-arranged tourist e-visa, before you fly | ICP or GDRFA smart services, a licensed Amer centre, or your airline's e-visa channel | Passport valid 6 months; a hotel booking and a return-ticket copy with the file (amer247, checked 20 July 2026) |
In a GCC country (Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman) | GCC-resident eVisa | GDRFA (Dubai) or ICP (Federal), online, before arrival | GCC residency valid at least 1 year from arrival; passport valid 6 months; profession on an approved list (u.ae, updated 13 July 2026). Apply before arrival — Emirates rule since 29 April 2016 |
With a UAE-resident sponsor | Sponsored visit visa | A resident relative files at GDRFA or ICP through an Amer centre | Sponsor salary floor AED 4,000 basic for a spouse or child, AED 6,000 for a parent, AED 8,000 for a sibling; an attested relationship certificate (amer247, checked 20 July 2026) |
One thing an Egyptian passport does not have: a third-country-visa shortcut. The 7 January 2024 scheme that lets some Indian passports collect a visa on arrival with a US, UK or EU visa, and the 25 June 2026 scheme that added Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, the Philippines, Kenya and South Africa, do not list Egypt — re-verified against our visa-on-arrival test on 20 July 2026. A US visa in an Egyptian passport does not unlock a Dubai visa on arrival.
Which route is yours: applying from Egypt, from a GCC residence, or through a UAE sponsor
One question sorts you into a route: where do you file from, and who files. Read your own case as this community writes it, as a profile block.
Egyptian passport · living in Cairo · flying Cairo–Dubai for a week’s holiday → pre-arranged tourist e-visa, filed online before departure, hotel booking and return ticket attached.
Egyptian passport · engineer resident in Saudi Arabia since 2023 · Iqama valid to 2027 → GCC-resident eVisa, if the profession is on the approved list, filed before arrival.
Egyptian passport · mother in Cairo · daughter is a UAE resident in Dubai → sponsored visit visa, the daughter files as sponsor and clears the salary floor.
The GCC-resident route is the one the visa mills never mention, and Egyptians are among the Gulf’s largest expatriate groups. If you already hold a Gulf residence permit, do not file the same tourist e-visa an applicant in Cairo files. Your product is different, its conditions are different, and one of those conditions is occupational. That route has its own section below.
The sponsored route is narrower than people expect. A friend or a business partner cannot be your sponsor — the relationship must be spouse, child, parent or sibling, each proved by an attested certificate. The sponsor is a UAE resident, checked harder than the visitor. The salary floors that decide it sit in the document section below.
The GCC-resident eVisa: the one-year-residency and profession conditions, dated
Three conditions, dated 13 July 2026, decide a Gulf-resident Egyptian’s eVisa. The u.ae page for GCC residents sets them plainly: GCC residency valid at least one year from the arrival date, a passport valid at least six months from arrival, and a profession on the list of professions approved for the visa, subject to evaluation by the authority. The visa is valid for 30 days and extendable once for 30.
The profession filter is the condition the visa mills leave out, and it is the one that stops files. A Gulf residence permit is not, on its own, a Dubai visa. The occupation printed on your Iqama or residence card is read against an approved list, and that list is not published in full anywhere we could open on 20 July 2026. Treat it as a real filter, not a formality.
The second trap is timing. There is no Gulf-residence exemption at the airport. Emirates states plainly that since 29 April 2016, GCC residence-permit holders must apply for a UAE visa before arriving in Dubai. An Egyptian who lives in Doha and expects to be waved through at DXB because he holds a Qatari residence card is reading a rule that was withdrawn nine years ago. Apply online, obtain the visa, then fly. Our visa-on-arrival test sets out the same rule against the full arrival lists.
The document pack an Egyptian application is actually asked for
For the tourist route, two documents are non-negotiable, checked 20 July 2026. amer247 states it on every tourist form: travellers submit a hotel reservation and a ticket copy with the application. So the hotel booking and the confirmed return ticket are part of the file, not something shown later at the gate. Add a passport valid at least six months and one digital photo.
Here is what an Egyptian passport is not asked for, and it is a real difference. amer247’s sponsored-visit-visa form carries one nationality-specific line, checked 20 July 2026: “Applicant National ID Required for Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran & Iraq Nationality.” Egypt is not on that line. An Egyptian applicant is not asked to add a national ID to the passport the way a Pakistani applicant is. The file is the standard pack, not a flagged one.
The sponsored route adds the relationship proof. It is the part that quietly fails files:
- Passport copy, valid at least 6 months
- One digital studio photo
- Sponsor’s original Emirates ID, plus residence-visa and passport copies
- The relationship certificate — a birth certificate for a parent or child, a marriage certificate for a spouse — attested by UAE MOFA and translated into Arabic (mofa.gov.ae attestation service, checked 20 July 2026)
- Sponsor’s salary certificate or a labour contract with the ministry stamp
- If the mother is the sponsor: an NOC from the father through Dubai Court, or his MOFA-attested death certificate
An Egyptian birth or marriage certificate needs that attestation chain before UAE MOFA accepts it. The glossary defines MOFA attestation and entry permit. amer247 also lists a refundable AED 1,000 deposit per applicant on the sponsored route, and an AED 283.15 charge if the sponsor has no active sponsorship file — both checked 20 July 2026, both on the agency invoice rather than a government card, so ask which receipt they appear on.
One 2026 caution belongs here. Do not submit a doctored hotel booking or an AI-generated bank statement. A Schengen applicant in this corpus was refused after an officer said his itinerary “looked template like” — he had used ChatGPT to format it. Visa desks now read those tells. A generated document is a named refusal trigger, not a shortcut. Write any invitation or reason-for-visit letter yourself, plainly.
Cost and where to pay, and the realistic timeline with dates
AED 252 is the government fee, AED 650 the agency all-in, both checked 20 July 2026. A 30-day single-entry tourist visa costs AED 252 in GDRFA fees; add AED 10 Knowledge Dirham and AED 10 Innovation Dirham for AED 272 in total government charges. An Amer centre such as amer247 sells the same visa all-in at AED 650. Nationality does not change either figure. The complete official-versus-agency breakdown, product by product, is on our fees page — this page runs no fee table, on purpose, so one number never contradicts another across the site.
On timing, plan for 2 to 4 working days on the standard path. amer247’s published windows for a tourist visa, checked 20 July 2026: up to 2-4 days standard, up to 24 hours express, a 58-day window to enter, and a 30-day stay from the day you enter.
A clean Egyptian file runs like this:
- Day 0 — apply online, hotel booking and return ticket attached
- Day 2-4 — visa issued (express: within 24 hours)
- Enter any time inside the 58-day validity
- Stay up to 30 days from the day you enter
The honest note is the one the mills skip: an Egyptian passport is not routed to a manual-clearance queue, so no unpublished review sits in front of that window. What you see is what you plan for. That is the opposite of the passports on the manual-clearance list, and it is the subject of the last section.
Delays and refusals — and the manual-clearance list an Egyptian passport is NOT on
An Egyptian passport is not on the list, checked 20 July 2026. amer247’s tourist forms carry a 12-nation notice: “Kindly verify with us on WhatsApp for the following nationalities before proceeding with an online visa application: Pakistan, Bangladesh, Uganda, Sudan, Nigeria, Lebanon, Libya, Mozambique, Ghana, Afghanistan, Ethiopia, and Cameroon.” Egypt is not among them. The online tourist form completes normally for an Egyptian passport. It is not sent to a person first.
That is the absence stated as a finding, and it decides how you should read every “processing” horror story about Dubai visas. Most of the worst delays online belong to passports on that manual-clearance list, where the file goes to a WhatsApp check before it can proceed. An Egyptian file does not start there. We found no UAE government notice of any visa restriction on Egyptian nationals as of 20 July 2026, and our four-regime passport map places the Egyptian passport in the pre-arranged route by its absence from that list.
To record the six things that place this passport, for anyone auditing the classification, checked 20 July 2026:
- Mechanism — pre-arranged route; no visa on arrival
- Manual-clearance status — not on the amer247 12-nation notice; the online form completes
- Document pack — standard tourist pack; no National ID asked (that line names Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq only)
- Fee — AED 252 GDRFA / AED 650 amer247, same as any passport; full table on our fees page
- Where you file — ICP or GDRFA smart services, a licensed Amer centre, or the airline e-visa channel
- Processing time — up to 2-4 days standard, up to 24 hours express; no added review window
When a file does bounce, the cause is usually documentary, not national. A passport under six months of validity is the fastest rejection — the six-month clock is measured from arrival, so renew before you apply. A sponsored refusal most often traces to the sponsor side: a salary below the floor, an inactive sponsorship file, or an un-attested certificate. Fix the sponsor’s file before you re-file the visitor’s. And a GCC-resident file drops out when the profession is not on the approved list — that is the eVisa’s own filter, not a mistake in your paperwork.
We do not file applications, and we quote no price of our own. This is the mechanism, not an offer to act for you.
