Indonesia Visa for UAE Residents: The Passport Decides, Not the Emirates ID (2026)
Indonesia decides your Bali entry on your passport’s nationality, not on your UAE residence visa — your Emirates ID does nothing at Denpasar immigration. If your nationality is on Indonesia’s visa-on-arrival list, 97 nationalities per Khaleej Times (23 October 2024), you pay IDR 500,000, about AED 112, for a 30-day e-VoA (indonesiavoa.vfsevisa.id, SERP snapshot checked 21 July 2026). If it is not, you pre-apply for the IDR 1,500,000 tourist e-visa. This is the anti-Georgia case: here your residency unlocks nothing. Every figure below carries the date we checked it.
Your Emirates ID does nothing at Denpasar: Indonesia keys entry on the passport
Zero. That is what your UAE residence visa adds to an Indonesia entry. The official VFS e-VoA requirement list asks only for a passport valid at least 6 months from arrival, a recent photo and copies of your return ticket (indonesiavoa.vfsevisa.id, checked 21 July 2026). There is no residence-validity line at all.

The whole SERP frames it the other way. musafir, atlys, regaltoursuae and even VFS’s own “How UAE Expat Families Can Apply” page all title it “Indonesia Visa for UAE Residents.” Khaleej Times shows where that came from (23 October 2024): Indonesia appointed VFS Global for its e-VoA, and “some UAE residents will be eligible.” The honest completion is which passports.
One agency page prints the residency in as a rule. greenappletravel.ae lists “UAE Residence visa valid for at least 3 months” as an Indonesia requirement (3 April 2026). The official VFS list it should match holds no such line — passport, photo, return ticket, nothing about your residence visa (indonesiavoa.vfsevisa.id, checked 21 July 2026). We print both. Trust the official portal, and confirm your own file there before you book.
This matters because residency does the opposite for other destinations. An Indian-passport resident asked r/UAE whether Georgia is visa-free “as a UAE resident” (16 May 2026) — and for Georgia the residency overlay is real. For Indonesia it is not. Run your own passport-plus-residency combo through our visa-free checker for UAE residents. The community fear is the boarding desk: one Armenia-bound resident wrote “I’m not sure how strict airlines and immigration are with this” (r/armenia, 21 May 2026). At Denpasar the ok-to-board desk checks your passport’s 6-month validity, a return or onward ticket, and — for VoA nationalities — your e-VoA PDF or readiness to pay at the counter. Not the Emirates ID.
The per-passport table: who gets VoA/e-VoA, who must pre-apply for the tourist e-visa
One axis decides everything here, and it is your passport. VoA-eligible nationalities use the IDR 500,000 e-VoA or the airport counter; ASEAN passports enter visa-free; everyone else pre-applies for the IDR 1,500,000 tourist e-visa. No page in the 19-result SERP maps the UAE’s main expat passports to a channel, so here is the mechanism with where to confirm your exact nationality.
Your passport (you live in the UAE) | Which channel applies | How to confirm before you book |
|---|---|---|
Indian | VoA / e-VoA — IDR 500,000, 30 days | India sits on Indonesia's VoA-eligible list; confirm your nationality on evisa.imigrasi.go.id |
Filipino | 30-day visa-free entry, no visa fee | The Philippines is an ASEAN member; ASEAN nationals get 30 days visa-free — a different lane from the VoA |
Pakistani | Pre-apply: 60-day tourist e-visa — IDR 1,500,000 | We found no VoA route for the Pakistani passport in the SERP snapshot; plan for the tourist e-visa and check evisa.imigrasi.go.id |
Egyptian | Verify on the official list before booking | We could not confirm the channel from the SERP snapshot; the eligible-nationality list is on evisa.imigrasi.go.id |
Jordanian | Verify on the official list before booking | Not enumerated in our corpus; same official portal |
The load-bearing fact is the eligible-nationality list itself, and Indonesian immigration publishes it on evisa.imigrasi.go.id. We could not enumerate all 97 nationalities from the SERP snapshot (21 July 2026), so read the table as the mechanism, then confirm your passport on the official list. IDR 500,000 or IDR 1,500,000: which price belongs to which product (dated, in AED)
Two prices sit in the same top ten and mean two different products. IDR 500,000, about AED 112, is the 30-day e-VoA/VoA fee — “per applicant, non-refundable” (indonesiavoa.vfsevisa.id, checked 21 July 2026). IDR 1,500,000, about AED 337, is the separate 60-day tourist e-visa on the immigration portal (evisa.imigrasi.go.id FAQ, checked 21 July 2026). Same country, different visas.
No incumbent page maps the price to the product; the numbers just sit side by side. So compare like with like. The visa on arrival buys 30 days, single entry, with one 30-day extension. The 60-day tourist e-visa buys up to 60 days, extendable, processed within about five working days (evisa.imigrasi.go.id FAQ, checked 21 July 2026). Two products, two ceilings, two prices.
Product | Official channel | Fee (IDR) | Indicative AED (~IDR 4,450/AED, mid-Jul 2026) | Stay | Source, checked 21 Jul 2026 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
e-VoA / VoA (B1) | indonesiavoa.vfsevisa.id or evisa.imigrasi.go.id | 500,000 | ~AED 112 | 30 days, single entry, one 30-day extension | VFS e-VoA card |
Tourist e-visa | evisa.imigrasi.go.id | 1,500,000 | ~AED 337 | up to 60 days, extendable | imigrasi FAQ |
Time Out Dubai said the e-VoA runs “around Dhs120 in total” (21 January 2025). That reconciles with IDR 500,000 — about AED 112 today — the small gap being a card or service margin, not a second fee. The dirham-rupiah rate floats, so check the day’s before you convert. Nothing here is pegged.
e-VoA before you fly vs the airport counter — and the two official portals
Same IDR 500,000 either way; the choice is when and where you pay. The e-VoA is pre-paid online and must be used within 90 days of issue (indonesiavoa.vfsevisa.id, checked 21 July 2026). The airport VoA is paid at the counter on landing at Denpasar. Two portals are official, and the SERP shows them as if they compete.
They do not. evisa.imigrasi.go.id is immigration’s own platform; indonesiavoa.vfsevisa.id is the VFS channel Indonesia appointed for the e-VoA (Khaleej Times, 23 October 2024). Both are official. For the e-VoA, either works — the VFS channel walks you through the form, and immigration’s own portal also hosts it. For the 60-day tourist e-visa and other visa types, use imigrasi’s evisa portal; the VFS site is the e-VoA channel only.
When is the airport counter the better call? If you decide late, or an online card payment fails, the Denpasar counter charges the same IDR 500,000 and needs no pre-registration — you queue instead. The e-VoA saves the queue and lets you show a PDF at ok-to-board, which settles the boarding-desk worry.
Bali arrival in practice: e-VoA lane, tourist levy, customs declaration
Three things gate a Bali arrival, and only one is the visa. Present your e-VoA PDF, or pay the IDR 500,000 VoA at the counter. Then the Bali tourist levy, IDR 150,000 per visitor, and the all-Indonesia electronic customs declaration (e-CD), which is free. Budget the levy and file the e-CD before you land.
The Bali tourist levy — IDR 150,000, about AED 34, per foreign visitor per visit — was introduced by the Bali provincial government on 14 February 2024 and is paid through the Love Bali portal (lovebali.baliprov.go.id). It is a decaying fact we could not re-verify against the SERP snapshot, so confirm the current figure there before you fly. The e-CD is mandatory for every arrival to Indonesia, carries no fee, and is filed within about two days of arrival at ecd.beacukai.go.id; you show the QR at customs. Neither replaces the visa, and both catch travellers who budgeted only for the IDR 500,000.
Extending the 30 days without leaving Indonesia
One extension, another 30 days. The e-VoA is single entry for up to 30 days and can be extended once for a further 30 without leaving Indonesia (indonesiavoa.vfsevisa.id, checked 21 July 2026) — a 60-day ceiling in total. Apply before the first 30 days lapse.
The extension is filed inside Indonesia, through an immigration office or the online extension flow, and the VFS e-VoA channel documents the mechanics. Miss the window and overstay is charged per day. If you already know you want more than about a month, the IDR 1,500,000 60-day tourist e-visa (evisa.imigrasi.go.id) starts higher and extends on its own — the cheaper e-VoA is the false economy for a long stay. Choose the product by how long you are staying, not by your residency.
