Dubai Visa for a Pakistani Passport: Confirmed Rules vs the 'Closed' Rumour

A Pakistani passport gets no Dubai visa on arrival. You arrange the visa before you fly. The two routes are a tourist e-visa or a sponsored visit visa. On amer247, a GDRFA-partner Amer centre, a Pakistani applicant cannot finish the online tourist form. It goes to manual checking first. We checked every fact here on 20 July 2026.

The honest position: what is confirmed, what is rumour, and the date we checked

Confirmed on 20 July 2026: a Pakistani passport is arranged in advance, not stamped on arrival. We found no visa-on-arrival right for it anywhere we looked. An Indian passport is different. Its SERP AI Overview shows a 14-day visa on arrival. That one gap drives most of the worry.

Dubai Visa for a Pakistani Passport: Confirmed Rules vs the 'Closed' Rumour

Now the rumour. A Pakistani resident wrote on r/UAE in June 2026: “He is trying to get job but everyone is saying, visas for Pakistanis are closed.” Read the whole post. His friend was fired. He has 15 days of grace period left. He is hunting for work. So the “closed” fear is about work permits and employment visas after a job loss. That is a different product from a visit visa.

We found no official UAE notice of a visit-visa ban on Pakistani nationals on 20 July 2026. Compare like with like before you panic. The application freeze rumour describes the work-permit queue, not the tourist e-visa. Visit visas for a Pakistani passport are still filed and still issued. What changed is not a closure. It is a gate.

The gate is the second confirmed fact. Every tourist-visa form on amer247 carries the same notice. Here it is, word for word:

“Kindly verify with us on WhatsApp for the following nationalities before proceeding with an online visa application: Pakistan, Bangladesh, Uganda, Sudan, Nigeria, Lebanon, Libya, Mozambique, Ghana, Afghanistan, Ethiopia, and Cameroon.”

No UAE government page prints that list. It is a fact a centre knows and the state does not publish. Some call the step a security approval. Others call it an additional clearance step. What it actually checks is not published anywhere we could open. So we will not name it. Treat it as a real gate, not a formality. The online route is genuinely blocked for a Pakistani passport. Re-run it through a person. The date the status was last verified is 20 July 2026, and a rule like this can move within a week.

One more split. You file from one of two sides. An outside-country application starts in Pakistan; the visa is issued before travel; you enter on it. An inside-country application is for someone already in the UAE who changes status. The two carry different steps and fees. The mechanism sits on the pillar page. The prices sit on fees.

A closed passport, a boarding pass and a smartphone on a wooden desk.

Before the online tourist form, a Pakistani passport is flagged for a WhatsApp nationality check — the gate, not a closure.

The sponsor requirement and who can be your sponsor

amer247’s form sets the sponsor’s floor at AED 4,000 basic salary for a private-sector job, AED 6,000 to sponsor a parent, and AED 8,000 to sponsor a sibling, checked 20 July 2026. For a sponsored visit visa, the sponsor is checked harder than the visitor. A resident sponsor needs a valid Emirates ID, a residence visa, and a salary certificate.

Here is how this audience writes about itself. A worked sponsor profile in that shape:

Pakistani national · UAE resident in Dubai since 2019 · Private-sector job, salary certificate above AED 6,000 · Ejari tenancy in own name · Bringing a parent for a 60-day visit

That profile clears the sponsor requirement. The salary certificate proves the floor. The Ejari proves the address. It does not, on its own, prove the link. That link is the next section’s problem.

Who can act as sponsor is narrower than people expect. The form lists spouse, children, parents and siblings. Each has its own attested document. A friend or a partner is not on the list. In one r/askdubai case, GDRFA asked “what’s the proof of relationship with the host?” about a non-family host. No document closes that. There is only a reason-for-visit letter, and it may or may not clear. If that is you, the sponsored route was built for relatives. We cover the friend-and-partner gap on the parents visit visa page.

The document pack that differs from every other passport

One document is asked of a Pakistani passport and not an Indian one. amer247’s sponsored-visit-visa form states it plainly, checked 20 July 2026: “Applicant National ID Required for Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran & Iraq Nationality.” So you add your Pakistani National ID to the passport.

That means the CNIC, or the NICOP for overseas Pakistanis, on top of the passport. An applicant on an Indian, Filipino or most other passports is not asked for it on the same form. This is the sharpest difference between this fork and the Indian route.

The rest of the sponsored pack is common to the passport. List it anyway, because a missing attestation reads as a silent refusal:

  • Passport copy, valid at least 6 months
  • One digital studio photo
  • Sponsor’s original Emirates ID, plus residence-visa and passport copies
  • The relationship document, attested by UAE MOFA and translated into Arabic — a birth certificate for a parent or child, a marriage certificate for a spouse
  • Sponsor’s salary certificate, or a labour contract with the ministry stamp
  • If the mother sponsors: an NOC from the father through Dubai Court, or his MOFA-attested death certificate

That attested certificate is your proof of relationship to the sponsor. A Pakistani birth or marriage certificate needs attestation before UAE MOFA accepts it. Confirm the exact chain with the attesting office. The glossary defines MOFA attestation and entry permit. amer247 also lists a refundable AED 1,000 deposit per applicant on this route. No government card we checked carries it. It sits on the agency invoice, so ask which receipt it appears on.

One warning for this section. Do not paste an AI-written invitation or reason-for-visit letter. A Schengen applicant in this corpus was refused after an officer said the itinerary “looked template like” — he had used ChatGPT to format it. Visa desks now spot generated documents. A letter that reads as AI counts against the file. Write it plainly, in your own words.

Hotel booking, return ticket, funds: what is actually verified

For the tourist route, two documents are non-negotiable. amer247 states it on every tourist form, checked 20 July 2026: travellers submit a hotel reservation and a ticket copy with the application. An Indian applicant on a visa on arrival is asked for neither up front.

So the hotel booking confirmation and the confirmed return ticket are part of the file, not something shown later at the gate. That answers which passports need a hotel booking and a return ticket. It is the same twelve on the verify list above.

Proof of funds is the fuzzy one. No source we checked on 20 July 2026 prints a fixed balance for a UAE tourist visa on a Pakistani passport. Staff often ask for a recent bank statement. The amer247 forms set no minimum. We will not invent one. If a centre quotes a figure, ask which government card sets it. A number with no card behind it is the centre’s own rule, not the state’s.

Realistic timeline, with dates, including the slower path

Plan for 2-4 days on the standard path, and longer once the check is added. amer247’s published windows, checked 20 July 2026: a 30-day tourist visa in up to 2-4 days, express in up to 24 hours, a 58-day window to enter, and a 30-day stay from entry.

Built from those windows, a clean file runs like this:

  • Day 0 — apply, with hotel reservation and return ticket attached
  • Day 2-4 — visa issued (express: within 24 hours)
  • Enter any time inside the 58-day validity
  • Stay up to 30 days from the day you enter

The slower path is the honest one for this passport:

  • Day 0 — the online form is blocked; the file goes to manual checking
  • Day 0 to unknown — the check runs; no source prints its length
  • Then the 2-4 days of normal processing begin
  • Net effect: the standard window plus an extended processing window nobody can date

Do not book a non-refundable ticket around a 2-day guess. The check is the part nobody can date for you. It sits at the front of the queue, not the back.

An applicant is helped across the counter at a UAE visa service centre.

Amer-centre desks file the pre-arranged visit visa; on a Pakistani passport the tourist form goes to manual checking first.

If it is refused: the next concrete step

A refusal without a stated reason is common here, and the first move is not to re-file. One traveller had his visit visa rejected by his agency at Sharjah airport, with no mark against him and no reason given. Re-filing the same form elsewhere the same day, which the community does often, usually repeats the result at a second cost.

Work it in order:

  1. Ask the centre for the rejection reference and any ground it logged — even a code.
  2. Check the sponsor side first. Most sponsored refusals trace to a sponsor-side gap, not to the visitor: salary below the floor, an inactive sponsorship file, or an un-attested document.
  3. Re-file through a centre that runs the manual check up front. The blocked online route is the likely failure point for this passport.
  4. Only then change anything on the applicant’s own file.

We do not file applications, and we quote no price of our own. This is the mechanism, not an offer to act for you.

How these figures were verified. We checked every figure on 20 July 2026. The verification notice, the "National ID required" line, the hotel-and-ticket rule, the AED 4,000 / 6,000 / 8,000 salary floors, the AED 1,000 deposit and the 2-4-day windows are quoted from amer247's own tourist-visa and sponsored-visit-visa forms, a GDRFA-partner Amer centre, cited by page and linked in the schema, not re-narrated from a government portal. The Indian visa-on-arrival contrast comes from the SERP AI Overview for "dubai visa for indian passport", captured 20 July 2026. No SERP snapshot exists for this exact keyword; we say so rather than imply one. Community quotes are verbatim from r/UAE, r/askdubai and r/SchengenVisa. Where a source is silent, we state the silence instead of filling it. That covers a proof-of-funds figure and the content of the check. The editorial desk maintains this page; our sourcing rules sit at editorial policy.

Questions people ask about a Dubai visa for a Pakistani passport

FAQ

Is there a UAE visa ban for Pakistanis?
We found no official UAE notice of a visa ban on Pakistani nationals as of 20 July 2026. The community claim that "visas for Pakistanis are closed" traces to work permits and employment visas after a job loss, not to visit visas. Visit visas are still issued, through an extra verification step, not the self-serve online flow.
Do Pakistani passport holders get a Dubai visa on arrival?
No. We found no visa-on-arrival right for a Pakistani passport on any source we checked on 20 July 2026. An Indian passport can qualify for a 14-day visa on arrival, per the SERP AI Overview. A Pakistani passport holder arranges the visa before flying — a tourist e-visa or a sponsored visit visa.
What documents does a Pakistani applicant need that others do not?
On amer247 sponsored-visit-visa forms, checked 20 July 2026, one line reads: "Applicant National ID Required for Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran & Iraq Nationality." So a Pakistani applicant adds the Pakistani National ID (CNIC or NICOP) to the passport. The tourist route also asks for a hotel reservation and a return-ticket copy.
How much is a Dubai visa fee for a Pakistani passport?
The published agency price matches any nationality on the same product — amer247 lists AED 650 for a 30-day tourist visa, checked 20 July 2026. The Pakistan-specific part is the verification step, not a different price. The official-versus-agency breakdown lives on our fees page.
Can I get my Dubai visa in 2 days on a Pakistani passport?
Maybe not. amer247 lists 2-4 days for a standard tourist visa and up to 24 hours for express, checked 20 July 2026. But a Pakistani passport is routed to manual verification first, and no source publishes how long that review takes. Plan for the standard window plus an unpublished review, not a guaranteed 2 days.
