Visit Visa for Parents in the UAE: The Sponsor-Side Gate, Proof of Kinship, and the Inside/Outside Split (2026)

Sponsoring a parent’s visit visa in the UAE is decided by your file, not theirs. As a resident sponsor from the private sector you need a salary published from AED 6,000 a month to bring a parent, an Ejari in your name, and a document that proves the parent is yours. amer247, a GDRFA-partner Amer centre, publishes that AED 6,000 floor, checked 20 July 2026. Get those three right and the parent’s paperwork is the easy half.

This page follows your decisions as the sponsor. It also fixes the biggest confusion on this search: four of the ten pages Google ranks for visit visa for parents uae answer the parents residence visa instead. That is a different product, with a AED 20,000 salary floor and a AED 5,000 deposit per parent.

Can you sponsor them? The four things checked about YOU, not about your parents

Visit Visa for Parents in the UAE: The Sponsor-Side Gate, Proof of Kinship, and the Inside/Outside Split (2026)

Four sponsor-side checks decide a parent visit visa: your salary, your tenancy, your proof of kinship, and which emirate issued your residence. The salary floor is published at AED 6,000 a month for a parent by amer247, and at AED 3,000–4,000 by the blog oravisa. Those two figures disagree. All four checks are about you. Checked 20 July 2026.

Salary. amer247 lists a AED 4,000 minimum for a spouse or child, rising to AED 6,000 for a parent and AED 8,000 for a sibling, checked 20 July 2026. oravisa (4 March 2026) states AED 3,000–4,000 for a parent. Neither says whether the minimum salary requirement is basic or total pay, and a 33% band is not a rule. The desk reads the figure on your labour contract or salary certificate, so bring that.

Tenancy. You need an Ejari / tenancy contract in your name. amer247’s parent forms accept an Ejari or a title deed. The desk also checks the bedroom count, which is why a studio Ejari invites a second question. What that question tests sits two sections down.

Proof of kinship. This stops most files. It has one clean answer for a parent and none for a friend, in its own section below.

Your emirate. Where your residence was issued decides your desk. A Dubai residence runs on GDRFA sponsorship. Abu Dhabi goes through Tamm. The other emirates go through ICP. Same family, different counter.

amer247 adds AED 283.15 if you have no active sponsorship file open, checked 20 July 2026. A first-time sponsor pays it; a resident who already sponsors a spouse usually does not.

Here is a worked file, in the format this community writes in. Indian passport, UAE resident since 2015. Private-sector job, MOHRE-stamped labour contract at AED 12,000 basic. Ejari for a two-bedroom in Al Barsha, Dubai. Sponsoring both parents together. On that file the salary clears every published floor, the tenancy clears the bedroom check, and the desk is GDRFA Dubai. The only open question is the relationship document.

Visit visa or residence visa for parents: two different products, and the SERP conflates them

Two products share the phrase “parents visa.” The visit visa lets a parent stay 30, 60 or 90 days on your sponsorship. The residence visa runs a year or more and asks far more: a AED 20,000 salary floor and a AED 5,000 refundable deposit per parent at amer247, checked 20 July 2026. Four of Google’s top ten here answer the residence one.

Name them, because they are why the search misleads. u.ae at rank 6 is “Residence visa for family members” (dated 27 February 2026). Tamm at rank 8 is the two-step residence process for Abu Dhabi, on a page dated 23 March 2022, now four years stale. dldcube at rank 9 is a parents-residency page. amer247 at rank 18 is “How to Sponsor my Parents on Residence Visa.” A reader who typed visit visa for parents uae is handed the residence product instead.

The two are not close. The visit visa is a short stay, no work, a lighter sponsor salary and a AED 1,000 refundable deposit per applicant. There is no long-term visit visa for parents; a long stay means the residence visa, with its AED 20,000 floor, its AED 5,000 deposit per parent, a two-bedroom Ejari, and an attested consanguinity certificate.

One note on that AED 20,000. amer247’s own site disagrees with itself: the parents-entry-permit form lists AED 10,000, the parents-residence news article lists AED 20,000. Both were live on 20 July 2026. We print both rather than pick one. Verify your own figure with the desk before you commit a deposit.

The visit visa is decided by the sponsor’s file, not the parent’s.

Proof of kinship: what actually satisfies the question — and the case where nothing does

ICP’s card “Issuance of a Visa” lists “Proof of kinship” and “Justification for the visit” as required documents, then never says what document satisfies them. GDRFA titles its card “visit visa for a relative or friend” and defines neither word. For a parent, the closing document is an attested birth certificate that names you. For a friend or partner, there is no closing document at all. Checked 20 July 2026.

Start with what works: your own birth certificate names your parents. That proves the person you host is the parent on your record. Get it attested in the home country, then by the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with a legal Arabic translation. amer247 requires exactly this chain for the residence track: a “consanguinity certificate” attested by MOFA UAE. The visit track accepts the same logic in lighter form. For an in-law, your spouse’s parent, the chain adds your marriage certificate and your spouse’s birth certificate. A passport family page supports the claim but rarely closes it. These are the attested documents the relationship proof rests on.

The bedroom question tests one thing: whether you actually have room to host. When GDRFA asks “how many bedrooms,” it is checking that the hosting claim is real, not counting furniture. Your Ejari and tenancy contract feed that answer. The residence track sets a hard floor of two bedrooms. The visit track has no fixed number, but a studio Ejari against a claim to host two parents invites the second look.

Now the case no incumbent page will state plainly. For a friend, or a partner you are not married to, there is no document that closes the loop. A UAE resident on r/askdubai (25 June 2026) described it exactly: her boyfriend applied, supplied her Ejari and Emirates ID, and the desk still came back — “they are asking what’s the proof of relationship with the host? How can we proof that? I don’t understand!” There is nothing to attach, because “Friend” has no certificate. All you can file is a justification-of-visit narrative, and it may or may not clear. That is the honest answer. Naming a parent, sibling or child gives you a document; naming a friend gives you a story.

Inside-country vs outside-country: one visa, two procedures, two prices

An inside-country application costs about 2.2 times an outside-country one. amer247 publishes the parent entry permit at AED 1,202.90 inside and AED 552.90 outside, checked 20 July 2026, a ratio of 2.18. The gap, about AED 650, is a change-of-status step, not a charge for the visa. amer247 sells that same step on its own for AED 732.90. The full price list stays on fees.

The two procedures differ. Outside-country, your parent applies from abroad, receives an entry permit, and flies in. That is one step. Inside-country, your parent is already here, perhaps on a tourist visa, and you convert their status. That is the change of status without exit, and the inside price bundles it. That is what “inside-country vs outside-country application” means on the forms.

The arithmetic shows it is the same step every time. On amer247’s figures the inside-minus-outside gap is AED 650 on the parent entry permit, AED 650 on the 30-day sponsored visit visa, and AED 670 on the 90-day. The gap barely moves with the product, because it is not the product. It is one fixed conversion, priced standalone by amer247 at AED 732.90. Where a quote jumps for “inside country,” that jump is the change of status, and it has its own page: change status.

Which desk: GDRFA (Dubai), ICP (federal), Tamm (Abu Dhabi)

Your emirate routes your file, and each desk handles the paperwork its own way. GDRFA runs Dubai. Tamm runs Abu Dhabi as a two-step process, entry permit first and residence second, on a page last touched 23 March 2022. ICP is federal and issues the ICP entry permit for the remaining emirates. The same parent, sponsored by the same salary, meets a different counter and document flow depending on where your residence was issued. No page ranking here states this side by side.

Sponsorship paperwork, two closed passports and reading glasses laid out on a desk.

The sponsor pack: a salary certificate from AED 6,000, an Ejari in your name, and proof the parent is yours.

30, 60 or 90 days, the deposit, and what an extension really buys you

A parent visit visa is issued for 30, 60 or 90 days. GDRFA’s “relative or friend” cards, single-entry and multi-entry, both state those three lengths, and ICP’s card matches them. amer247 lists a AED 1,000 refundable deposit per applicant on the visit track, checked 20 July 2026. An extension buys one more block of days, at a cost, and it is not always the cheapest move.

On the deposit, read the receipt. The residence track carries a heavier AED 5,000 per parent; Khaleej Times reported the residence deposit-per-parent for a year-long stay on 10 November 2024. u.ae publishes no deposit figure on its family pages. A deposit that appears only on an agency invoice is not a government deposit, so ask the centre for the government receipt line before you hand it over.

An extension is a decision, not a rule. You have three moves. Extend, and buy another 30 days, priced on the fees page. Exit and return on a fresh permit. Or convert to residence. Each is wrong in a specific case. Repeated extensions cost more than one residence conversion if the parent stays long. Exit-and-return gambles on a clean re-entry, and re-entries do get refused, as the next section shows. Conversion needs the AED 20,000 residence salary floor you may not clear. A humanitarian extension, granted case by case for a medical or family emergency, cannot be planned around. Pick by how long the parent is really staying.

The document pack: sponsor side, parent side, and what gets sent back

Two stacks, and they bounce at predictable points. Sponsor side: Emirates ID, residence-visa page, Ejari, a salary certificate or MOHRE-stamped labour contract, and your passport. Parent side: a passport valid at least six months, a white-background photo, proof of kinship, a justification of the visit, and, for longer stays, a medical report. The pack fails most often on attestation and on an AI-written letter. Checked 20 July 2026.

The parent stack proves who they are and why they come: ICP’s card lists passport, photo, medical report, proof of kinship and justification of the visit, and amer247 flags the six-month passport-validity rule. Attestation is where files stall. A birth or consanguinity certificate must be attested in the home country, then by UAE MOFA, then translated into Arabic; miss one stamp and it comes back. On the residence track, if you do not bring both parents, the desk wants an attested death or divorce certificate to explain why. The visit track is more forgiving, but the logic is the same.

One warning for the justification narrative, because this is the exact document readers are tempted to generate. Officers now recognise template and AI-written text, and it counts against the file. In this same corpus a Schengen applicant out of Dubai was told his itinerary “looked template like” after he formatted it with ChatGPT. The justification of your parent’s visit is the one document you should write plainly, in your own words. Use real dates and a real reason. A generated letter reads as generated, and a desk that already asks “what is the relationship” is exactly the desk that notices.

A dated timeline — and what the slow version looks like

Filed from outside the country, the common shape is short: apply, entry permit in a few working days, parent flies in, the clock starts on entry. GDRFA and ICP publish no guaranteed per-step time, and that absence is worth knowing, because nobody owes you a date. The slow version is a document sent back for re-attestation, which adds one to two weeks.

Here is the common shape as a dated example, in the arrow format this community uses, not as a promise. Fri 4 Jul: file the outside-country application with the full pack → Wed 9 Jul: entry permit issued, a few working days later, with no official SLA → Tue 15 Jul: parent flies in, and the 30, 60 or 90-day clock starts on entry, not on issue → around the two-thirds mark: the extension window opens, and you decide whether to extend, exit and return, or convert.

Entry mechanics, meaning how long a permit stays valid to enter and how wide the entry window is, sit on uae visa, not here.

The slow variant has two causes. The birth certificate was not MOFA-attested, so the file bounces; re-attesting it at home and at UAE MOFA with an Arabic translation adds one to two weeks. Or the relationship was filed as “Friend,” proof that does not exist gets requested, and the file sits. That is the proof-of-kinship case, now costing you the calendar.

If it goes wrong mid-stay: agency refusal, your own job loss, the May 2026 fine recalculation

Three failure modes hit this segment, and none is about the parent’s paperwork. An agency files and the visa is refused at the airport with no reason given. Your own residence is cancelled and your sponsored parent’s status falls with it. And overstay fines were recalculated retroactively around 13 May 2026, with GDRFA’s own line unable to say why.

The agency refusal comes without explanation. A resident on r/UAE (7 July 2026) ran a visa-change through his agency, landed at Sharjah, and found the visit visa rejected — “NOW IDK WHY, I DONT HAVE ANY WRONG OR BLACK MARK.” Agencies are the default channel here, and the default suspect. No page, ours included, can promise you an approval, and the refusal that arrives carries no stated cause. Treat the agency as a filer, not a guarantor.

The sponsor-collapse case is the fear this segment carries. Your parent enters as your dependent, and that status is chained to yours. A resident on r/DubaiJobs (3 June 2026) was laid off and had to put “my mom’s visa (whom I sponsor) on a temporary hold.” When your residence is cancelled, the grace period is short: a Pakistani resident on r/UAE noted a friend with “15 days left in grace period” after a termination. A parent inside the country on your file, and any other dependents, are exposed the day your own status lapses. No incumbent page admits this scenario exists.

The overstay recalculation is a live, dated uncertainty. A traveller on r/dubai (20 May 2026) expected the fine waiver to carry through to departure, then hit a retroactive charge: “I called GDRFA and they said the fines got updated on May 13 for everyone but they are not sure what the reason was, if the waiver has ended or it was a system glitch.” For an elderly visitor whose flight is being rebooked over a holiday, the balance can move under them. Check the ICP fines enquiry before you book the exit. The AED 50-a-day standard rate and the waiver timeline sit on fees.

And the scam pattern, because this segment has been burned by it. A resident on r/JobsInDubaiUAE (9 June 2026) described a mother who “trusted someone who promised to arrange her visa” and was scammed into overstay. Ask for the government receipt line for every dirham you pay. A promise with no receipt is not a service.

What is confirmed, what is rumour, and the date we checked each one

Confirmed on 20 July 2026: the visit visa runs 30, 60 or 90 days, and the residence track asks a AED 20,000 salary floor and a AED 5,000 deposit per parent. Contradicted: the parent visit-visa salary floor, published as both AED 6,000 and AED 3,000–4,000. Unconfirmed rumour: that visas for Pakistanis are “closed.” Each of these is a finding, not a hedge.

Confirmed. These are the durable facts behind the query visit visa for parents uae. The 30-60-90 durations come from GDRFA’s relative-or-friend cards and ICP’s “Issuance of a Visa” card. The residence salary and deposit come from amer247. The inside price runs at about 2.2 times the outside. The change-of-status step is the reason, computed from amer247’s own figures.

Contradicted. The parent salary floor is published four ways: AED 6,000 for a visit visa (amer247), AED 3,000–4,000 (oravisa, 4 March 2026), AED 20,000 for the residence track (amer247 news), and AED 10,000 on amer247’s own residence form. Whether any figure is basic or total pay is stated on none of them. We print all four with their sources and dates; averaging them would invent a number no source publishes.

Rumour. A resident on r/UAE (18 June 2026) wrote that after a termination, “everyone is saying, visas for Pakistanis are closed.” What is verifiable: we found no published GDRFA or ICP freeze on Pakistani visit visas as of 20 July 2026. What is real but different: amer247’s own tourist-visa form flags Pakistan, alongside Bangladesh, Sudan, Nigeria and Uganda, for extra WhatsApp verification. That is an operational grey-list, not a closure, and no primary source publishes a nationality-wide freeze. The passport-specific detail sits on for pakistani passport.

How these figures were verified. All figures were checked on 20 July 2026. Two source tiers, stated honestly. Read directly: the amer247 service and news pages we crawled, and the search snapshot for visit visa for parents uae — the ICP card Issuance of a Visa and the amer247 forms are linked. Cited from published text, not opened directly: the GDRFA relative-or-friend cards, the u.ae "Residence visa for family members" page, the Tamm "Bringing Family to Abu Dhabi" page, and the dated articles from oravisa (4 March 2026), Khaleej Times (10 November 2024) and mofauae (23 December 2024). We name each by title. Where sources clash, we print both, dated. The editorial desk maintains this page; our sourcing rules and correction log live at editorial policy.

Questions people ask about a visit visa for parents in the UAE

FAQ

How to get visa for parents in UAE?
You sponsor it. As a UAE resident sponsor you file a visit-visa application through GDRFA in Dubai, ICP at the federal level, or an Amer centre. You supply your Emirates ID, residence-visa page, Ejari and a salary certificate. Your parent supplies a passport valid six months, a photo, proof of kinship and a justification of the visit. Checked 20 July 2026.
How much is a parents visa in the UAE?
Two figures frame it, and the full price list lives on fees. amer247, a GDRFA-partner Amer centre, publishes a parent entry permit at AED 552.90 filed from outside the country and AED 1,202.90 filed from inside, about 2.2 times as much, plus a AED 1,000 refundable deposit on the visit track. Checked 20 July 2026.
Can I bring my parents to the UAE permanently?
Not on a visit visa. That product stays capped at 90 days. A long stay runs on a separate track, the parents residence visa, which amer247 lists with a AED 20,000 monthly salary floor and a AED 5,000 refundable deposit per parent, renewed periodically. It is a different application from the visit visa. Checked 20 July 2026.
Can I apply for a tourist visa for my parents?
Yes, as their sponsor. A parent enters on a sponsored visit or tourist visa for 30, 60 or 90 days. GDRFA calls it the visit visa for a relative or friend; ICP files it under Issuance of a Visa. You file the application, so your parent does not have to apply alone from abroad. Checked 20 July 2026.
