A correction, on the record. Until 31 July 2026 this page carried a Sunday-to-Thursday submission window, flagged as unconfirmed because it came from a single agency guide (oravisa.com, 21 February 2026). We have now read BLS’s own contact page directly: the window is Monday to Friday, and the agency figure was wrong. Per our editorial policy, the error and the fix stay visible.
BLS is a reception-and-processing centre, nothing more. Its own site says the centre “does not provide any other services apart from reception and processing of Spanish visa applications as authorised by” the Spanish ministry. The Consulate General of Spain decides. Which brand handles which Schengen country is the full appointment centre map — check it before you book, so you do not queue at VFS for a Spain file.
What Spain costs at the BLS counter, in dirhams
AED 388 is the adult visa fee for most nationalities, plus a BLS service charge of AED 73 (VAT inclusive) — AED 461 per adult before any courier extras. Both figures read directly from BLS’s tourism page on 31 July 2026.

Two caveats belong next to that table. First, the AED amounts track the euro exchange rate — BLS states the dirham figure follows the current rate, so the number can move between booking and counter. Second, the portal is not perfectly consistent with itself: one portal page in our search snapshot quotes the service charge as AED 68 VAT-exclusive, while the tourism page we opened directly says AED 73 VAT-inclusive. We print both; the counter settles it. Booking the appointment itself is free of charge on the official site — BLS says so explicitly, and anyone charging you merely to book is not BLS.
Two payment rules are easy to miss and expensive to learn. BLS fees paid online while booking are non-refundable under any circumstances — BLS’s own wording. And once a slot is booked, rescheduling is not available. Pick the date as if it were final, because it is.
Booking a slot when BLS shows none — the checked-for-weeks reality
Zero open BLS Spain appointment slots is the normal state in the May–July peak. One Dubai applicant wrote on 28 April 2026: “Spain no appointments, been checking for weeks.” When BLS shows nothing, you are not doing it wrong. Spain’s Dubai calendar is simply full, and slots drop in small, unannounced batches.
The booking flow runs through one site: uae.blsspainvisa.com. Register an account, fill the application form, choose a slot, pay, then attend for biometrics. Everyone aged 12 and above attends in person, because biometric enrolment cannot be delegated. BLS also asks applicants to book directly, without third parties — its own instruction, not ours.
Three moves help. Check daily, including early morning, because released blocks vanish within hours. Keep your portal account complete, so you can take a slot the second it shows. Watch for cancellations — they reopen individual slots at random times.
The waitlist is a black box, and we will not pretend otherwise. A UAE applicant asked on 8 June 2026, “how long does it usually take to get off waitlist if anyone knows?” — and got no answer. Nobody publishes a Spain-Dubai waitlist ETA. We have none to give you.
Paid slot services and booking bots exist. They can catch a released slot faster than you can. They cannot change the consulate’s decision, and they cannot legally guarantee a visa. Treat any “guaranteed approval” or upfront-cash-only offer as a scam marker. spainvisa.ae — an agency, not BLS — published AED 2,000 for “Visa Assistance (Visa Centre Fees + Visa Fees)” in our 20 July 2026 snapshot; against AED 461 of actual counter cost, that is the price of impatience. Spain rejects incomplete files at the counter, so the checklist decides whether your slot counts.
Processing time and passport collection
15 calendar days is the legal target — and calendar days are not the unit the Dubai pages quote. The Schengen Visa Code sets a decision within 15 calendar days of a complete file, extendable to 45 days for extra checks. The Code is standing law; the consulate can confirm it.
The unit is the whole difference, and both sides are published. oravisa.com (21 February 2026) says 15-day processing. dayofdubai.com (5 July 2026) says 10 to 15 working days off-peak. travnook.com and marcopolo-holidays.com both say 15 working days. spainvisa.ae says 10 to 15 business days. greenappletravel.ae says 2 to 15 working days. Fifteen working days is three calendar weeks once two weekends land inside it; fifteen calendar days is two. Not one of those six sources is the consulate, and we found no turnaround published by the consulate itself.
Spain visa processing time is set by the Consulate General of Spain, not by BLS. Nothing about a BLS Spain visa in Dubai moves faster because the centre is efficient. So when the PAA asks “how long does BLS Spain take,” it is asking the wrong party.
The timeline reads in one line: complete submission on day 0, a decision inside 15 calendar days, up to 45 in harder cases, then your passport back at the centre — collection window 15:00–17:00, or paid courier to your address. The document checklist, and the counter rules that reject files
The checklist is set by the Spain consulate, not by BLS. A valid passport, the completed form, photos, travel insurance, proof of funds and a travel itinerary top every published list — and three items carry hard numbers read from BLS’s own tourism page on 31 July 2026.
Insurance: €30,000 minimum, covering medical evacuation and repatriation. Passport: at least two empty pages. Photos: white or off-white background, full face, non-smiling, no head covering, on photographic paper, not older than six months. BLS reception checks that the pack is complete; it does not weigh your file.
Passport validity is where the published lists split. visadoctor.ae and spainvisa.ae say three months beyond your intended departure; musafir.com, odittravels.com and schengenvisa.ae say six months (all live in the 20 July 2026 snapshot). Three months beyond departure from the Schengen area is the Code rule; the six-month figure is an agency margin, not a published consulate requirement. Renew early if you sit near either line.
One warning the checklists skip: a recognisably AI-generated cover letter or itinerary is now a live refusal vector. A Schengen applicant this year had a file flagged because, in their words, “my itinerary looked template like, yes I did use chat GPT to format it.” Write your own letter, tie it to real dates, keep it specific.
