They never bother to reply,” one Dubai resident wrote on r/UAE (28 April 2026). Treat that as the operating instruction it is. Register a separate VFS account per traveller, pay per traveller, and book each slot the moment it appears rather than holding out for four aligned times. If the appointments land on different days, email VFS to request alignment — but plan as though the reply never comes, because for this applicant it did not.

That multiplies an already thin supply. “It been weeks trying to get appointment but im unable to find one; i need to travel in September; when should I start panicking?” asked another (r/dubai, 28 June 2026). Here is the dated answer to the panic. Filing opens six months before your travel date, and the application must be lodged at least 15 calendar days before departure (Schengen Visa Code, Article 9). One name to keep straight while you book. A site called blsitalyvisa.com ranks in the top ten for this search, and BLS International is a real visa contractor — but in Dubai, BLS runs Spain’s centre, not Italy’s (see the BLS Spain Dubai desk). The two official surfaces are consdubai.esteri.it, which owns the jurisdiction and the checklist, and visa.vfsglobal.com, which owns the booking. Before you pay a third-party operator, open consdubai.esteri.it and confirm the exact centre it names for your city — the operator on the consulate’s own page is the one that counts.

Visiting a friend or family member in Italy is a different document pack from the tourist route, and the commodity pages collapse the two. The demand is real and specific. “I am an Indian woman… I need the Schengen visa to visit my friend 5/6 days in Naples, Italy. I am employed as a cabin crew for emirates airline in Dubai. My salary is roughly 7000 aed,” one applicant wrote (r/SchengenVisa, 23 June 2026), asking whether the consulate would refuse her. Cabin crew and other shift workers can build the employment side cleanly: the employer letter and recent payslips, bank statements showing the salary landing, and — because the schedule is irregular — a roster or NOC that a case officer can read at a glance. A property or loan in the home country, as this applicant held, is a tie worth showing, not a liability. The host side is where the fork bites: the hospitality declaration is the host’s document, made in Italy, not something you can produce in Dubai the night before.

One caution that carries real risk here. A fabricated host declaration — or an AI-written cover letter that reads like a template — is the local scam vector, and consulates flag template-like paperwork (“my itinerary looked template like,” one refused applicant noted). Only the checklist published on consdubai.esteri.it counts. Do not buy a host invitation; have your host issue the real one.

Is Italy the 'easiest' Schengen visa from Dubai? The main-destination rule decides, not the slot

By the raw number, Italy is the “easiest” — its 2024 short-stay refusal rate at the Dubai consulate was 15.4%, the lowest of any UAE Schengen consulate (European Commission 2024 consulate-level visa statistics). The rule that decides where you file is the main-destination rule: you apply through the country where you will spend the most nights, or — if nights are equal — your first point of entry.
